Troy Dildine, PhD

Professional Development and Community Lead

Now in his third year as a Grant Coach with the Grant Writing Academy, Troy has co-developed courses and workshops on Writing Productivity and on Creativity in Research to help scholars refine their problem space so they are asking the right questions before chasing solutions. He has led grant writing seminars for labs and departments across Stanford, reviewed F, K, R- and U-series (multi-project) applications, and was named a Stanford Postdoc Champion in 2024. He has been awarded funding from Stanford and from social and behavioral science oriented foundations and currently has an NIH K Award under review.

Troy is a NIDA T32 Postdoctoral Scholar in the Division of Pain Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine, mentored by Dr. Sean Mackey. He received his PhD through the Graduate Partnership Program between the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health at the NIH and the Department of Clinical Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet. Troy is a Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Ambassador and serves on a PCORI-funded Patient Engagement Board, chairs Special Interest Groups for national and international societies, sits on the Editorial Board of The Journal of Pain, and is an ad hoc reviewer for 20+ journals. His research sits at the intersection of social psychology, epidemiology, machine learning, and community engagement, examining how psychosocial factors shape health outcome trajectories to advance equitable care in the Bay Area and internationally.
