Vaithish Velazhahan, PhD

Dr. Vaithish Velazhahan is a postdoctoral fellow and medical trainee at Stanford where he works in the labs of Prof. Wah Chiu and Prof. Michael Lim. He graduated with honors degrees in medical biochemistry and microbiology from Kansas State University. He performed research during all four years of his undergraduate education and his work was recognized with the Barry Goldwater National Scholarship and multiple grants from the NIH and NSF. He is training to be a physician scientist and has completed his PhD at the University of Cambridge where he was a Gates Cambridge scholar and is currently a Knight Hennessy scholar at Stanford. His research has led to multiple sole, first-authored manuscripts published in the journal Nature and has been recognized with the Max Perutz best thesis prize and election to Fellowship at Gonville and Caius College at Cambridge. In his free time, Vaithish enjoys travelling with his wife and singing.
