Neurosciences K-Series Empowerment Bootcamp for Women

Jasper Ridge Biological Preserve is 4.4 miles west of the main Stanford University campus.

Pathways to Neurosciences is partnering with the Grant Writing Academy to offer the K-series Empowerment Bootcamp designed to facilitate successful K Award applications from promising women postdoctoral researchers. This Bootcamp is for Pathways to Neurosciences postdocs who are open and committed to immersing themselves in powerful self-awareness and self-efficacy activities while constructing their K-Award. Within a safe community, you will craft your proposal using self-empowering strategies and design thinking tools. Here are some experiences from individuals who participated last year:

  • “This experience is going to be one of the most scientific and personally empowering during your time as a postdoc.”
  • “Of all my years in academic research, this is the first time I’ve experienced anything like it, and I am confident I’ll always remember those three Fridays!”
  • “I do feel now more than ever that I am worthy and capable of being an independent scientist.”
  • “I have changed so much after taking the K-series Empowerment Bootcamp. I am now confident I can write a K99 and looking forward for doing it.”
  • “Hands down one of the most helpful, transformative training experiences I have had.”

This 2023 K-series Empowerment Bootcamp will focus on empowerment strategies for women who are planning K Awards for the October 2023 deadlines.

By participating you are committing to engaging in the following three sessions (attendance at all three is required):

Bootcamp session 1: October 26, 2023 at 9:15 am – 4:00 pm, Jasper Ridge

In this session, we will form a safe and empowered community that elevates your K Award and vision for your future career.

Bootcamp session 2: November 2, 2023 at 9:15 am – 4:00 pm, Jasper Ridge

In this session, we will leverage design thinking tools with its iterative processes to weave a storyline across your K Award application.

Bootcamp session 3: November 9, 2023 at 9:15 am – 4:00 pm, On Campus

In this session, we will outline the major K Award components by applying the learned self-empowering strategies and design thinking tools.
