Crafting a compelling training plan for a fellowship or career development award requires the applicant to develop a  framework to gain needed mentoring, skills, and experiences that build on prior training and/or experiences. At this workshop, participants will acquire an understanding of the importance of the Training Plan for graduate and postdoc  proposals, and how the Training Plan section is distinct from the Research Plan and Candidate Background sections. Participants will come away with a draft of the elements that they can use to create their own compelling training plan.

Target Audience: Graduate students and postdocs preparing a NIH NRSA F30, F32, F32 Fellowship proposals as well as other fellowship or career development award proposals that have a training plan component.

About the speakers:

Danielle Mathersul has a PhD in Clinical Psychology and Neuroscience.  Her research focuses on evaluating and developing treatment interventions for mental health disorders and understanding the biological mechanisms of treatment-response.  She has experience writing various career development, early career, young investigator, and seed/pilot funding grant applications, including to NIH, Department of Veterans Affairs, NHMRC Australia, Brain & Behavior Research Foundation (formerly NARSAD), American Australian Association, and Stanford University.

Claudia Vasquez has a PhD in Biology from MIT. Claudia is interested in understanding how groups of cells respond to mechanical stimuli. She has received an NIH NRSA F32 fellowship titled: Investigating the Physical Mechanisms that Drive Multicellular Lumen Morphogenesis as well as other funding.
